ECU Health Sciences Building

Greenville, NC

Strickland Waterproofing Company led the restoration effort at East Carolina University’s Health Sciences Building, executing a comprehensive repair of through-wall flashing systems that were either missing or improperly installed during original construction. Our work involved careful selective demolition of the masonry façade at shelf angles and above windows, allowing us to install new, properly detailed flashing systems to protect the building envelope. Additional scope included selected window replacements and installation of new exterior sealants to improve moisture protection and building performance.

A key challenge was that the original masonry was no longer in production. To maintain a seamless appearance, our team meticulously salvaged, cleaned, and reinstalled existing brick wherever possible. This project underscored the importance of specialized trades in building envelope work — a valuable reminder that waterproofing should never be an afterthought. When entrusted to experienced professionals, quality and durability follow.
